Terms of Service

Nexa Coffee · Effective 2026-10-12 · Last updated 2026-10-12

These Terms govern the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between SosomLab (the “Company”) and you regarding the use of Nexa Coffee (the “Software”).

1. Definitions

  1. “Software” means the Nexa Coffee application distributed by the Company, including the portable archives, installers, and packages distributed through GitHub Releases and package managers, together with its source code.
  2. “User” or “you” means anyone who downloads, installs, or uses the Software.
  3. “Distribution Channel” means any route through which the Software is obtained, such as GitHub Releases, winget, Chocolatey, Homebrew, or the APT/DNF repository at pkg.sosomlab.com.

2. Effect and Changes

  1. These Terms take effect when you download, install, or use the Software.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms within the limits permitted by applicable law. Amendments and their effective date will be posted on this page; material changes will be announced at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Software after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

3. License

  1. The Software is provided under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the Software free of charge, including for commercial purposes, provided that the copyright notice and license text are included.
  2. The full license text is published in the Software’s source repository and prevails over this section in case of conflict. Nothing in these Terms restricts the rights the MIT License grants you.

4. Nature of the Software

  1. The Software is a small utility that operates entirely on your device. It makes no network connections, and the Company provides no account, hosting, or online service in connection with it.
  2. The Software sends no data to the Company. What it stores on your device is described in the Privacy Policy.
  3. The Software keeps your computer awake by making requests to the operating system’s power-management facilities. Whether and how fully sleep is prevented is ultimately decided by the operating system, its power policy, and your hardware, and may differ by OS and version (for example, on Windows and macOS closing the laptop lid may still put the computer to sleep, while on Linux the Software also asks logind to block lid-close sleep).

5. Your Responsibility for Preventing Sleep

  1. Preventing sleep keeps the computer and its display running for the period you choose. You are responsible for the consequences, including increased power consumption and electricity costs, battery drain and battery wear, heat build-up, and screen burn-in.
  2. Do not leave a computer that is prevented from sleeping in an enclosed or poorly ventilated place, such as a bag or case, particularly with the lid closed. Overheating may damage the device or cause injury.
  3. A computer kept awake also keeps its screen and session available. Locking your screen when you leave the device, and complying with the security policies of your organization, is your responsibility.
  4. Do not rely on the Software for purposes where an unexpected sleep or wake could cause harm to life, body, or property, or significant loss.

6. Unsigned Builds and Distribution Channels

  1. Current builds of the Software are not code-signed. The operating system may show warnings (such as Windows SmartScreen or macOS Gatekeeper), and you decide whether to proceed. Verify downloads against the published checksums (SHA256SUMS.txt) and obtain the Software only from the Company’s official repository or the Distribution Channels listed on this site.
  2. Third-party Distribution Channels such as winget, Chocolatey, and Homebrew are operated by their respective operators under their own terms. Listings there may appear later than official releases, and the Company does not guarantee their availability or contents.
  3. The Company accepts no responsibility for copies of the Software obtained from sources other than the official repository and its listed Distribution Channels, or for modified versions distributed by others.

7. Your Obligations

You must not:

  1. remove or alter the copyright notice and license text when redistributing the Software;
  2. distribute a modified version of the Software in a way that could mislead others into believing it is an official release of the Company;
  3. engage in any other conduct prohibited by applicable law or these Terms.

8. Third-Party Components

The Software relies on facilities provided by the operating system and desktop environment (power management, tray, notifications, and, on Linux, dialog tools such as yad, zenity, or kdialog). Those components are subject to their own licenses and terms.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, as also stated in the MIT License. The Company does not warrant that the Software will operate without interruption or error, that it will prevent sleep in every environment, or that it will be compatible with any particular hardware, operating system, power policy, or desktop environment.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, for loss of data, profits, or business, for electricity costs, battery wear, heat damage, or other harm to equipment, for work interrupted because the computer did or did not go to sleep, or for security incidents arising from an unattended computer, arising from the use of or inability to use the Software. Liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, is not limited.

11. Discontinuation

The Company may change or discontinue distribution of the Software or any of its features at any time. Copies already installed may continue to be used under these Terms and the MIT License.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes arising in connection with the Software shall be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
