Nexa Coffee · Effective 2026-10-12 · Last updated 2026-10-12

Nexa Coffee (the “Software”) is a tray timer for Windows, macOS, and Linux, distributed by SosomLab (the “Company”), that keeps your computer from going to sleep for a period you choose. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Software handles and where it is stored.

1. Summary

  • The Software contains no network code. It makes no Internet or local-network connections, and the Company receives no data from the Software.
  • The Software contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking. There is no account sign-up.
  • The only file the Software writes is a small settings file on your device (Section 2). It contains no personal information.
  • To prevent sleep, the Software asks the operating system’s power-management facilities for a temporary “stay awake” request and releases it when the timer ends or the Software exits (Section 3).

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The Software creates a single file named config in the following folder:

OSLocation
Windows%APPDATA%\nexa-coffee\config
macOS~/Library/Application Support/nexa-coffee/config
Linux$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/nexa-coffee/config (normally ~/.config/nexa-coffee/config)

The file is plain text and contains only the following settings:

KeyContents
auto=The duration (days, hours, minutes) to start automatically when the Software launches, or off
custom=The last duration you entered in the “Custom…” window
lang=The interface language you selected (written only if you chose one explicitly)

The file never leaves your device. Deleting the folder resets the Software to its defaults; uninstalling the Software through a package manager may leave this folder in place, and you can delete it yourself.

2-1. System registration

The Software writes nothing to the Windows registry and does not register itself to start at login. If you want it to start with your computer, you add it yourself — a shortcut in the Windows Startup folder (shell:startup), a macOS Login Item, or, on Linux, the install.sh --autostart option of the portable archive (which creates ~/.config/autostart/nexa-coffee.desktop). Packages installed through package managers place program files in the locations those package managers determine.

3. Use of Operating-System Facilities

While a timer is running, the Software uses only the following OS facilities. These requests are released when the timer ends, when you choose “Off”, or when the Software exits.

OSFacility
WindowsSetThreadExecutionState (system and display required)
macOSIOKit power assertions (prevent idle system/display sleep) and periodic user-activity declarations
LinuxD-Bus org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver.Inhibit (session bus) and org.freedesktop.login1 Inhibit (system bus)

These calls go to the operating system on your own device and do not transmit any data off the device. On Linux, the Software also uses the session’s tray (StatusNotifierItem) and notification services, and may launch a locally installed dialog tool (yad, zenity, or kdialog) to show input windows.

The “About” window shows the address of the Software’s source repository as text; the Software does not open it or connect to it.

4. Third-Party Services

The Software uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. When you download or install the Software, the channel you use may record ordinary download information (such as your IP address and request time) under its own policies:

  • GitHub Releases, winget, Chocolatey, and Homebrew are operated by third parties; the Company is not a party to your relationship with them.
  • The APT/DNF repository at pkg.sosomlab.com is a static package index published by the Company on Cloudflare Pages; package downloads are redirected to GitHub Releases. The Company does not use this repository to identify users, but the hosting providers may keep standard access logs under their own policies.

These records concern how you obtained the Software, not how you use it; once installed, the Software itself sends nothing.

5. Children

The Software is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. The Company does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

6. Your Rights

Because the Company holds no personal data about you, there is nothing on the Company’s side to access, correct, or delete. The settings file described in Section 2 stays on your device under your control and can be deleted at any time. If you have any questions, please contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the revised text and its effective date will be posted on this page. Material changes — in particular any addition of network communication or of data collected — will be announced at least 7 days before they take effect.

9. Revision History
