Based on v1.0.0 Last updated 2026-10-12

Before You Begin

SosomLab Notify is a mobile app for sending push notifications to other users and viewing the notifications you receive on a single screen. This guide is based on v1.0.0 (Android).

Note Notifications are delivered only to people who have signed up for the same app and allowed notifications. If the recipient has not installed the app or has turned notifications off, the sent message is marked Not registered (미가입).

You can find the app overview and screenshots on the app page.

Installation

  1. Tap the Google Play button on the app page, or find the app in the Play Store and install it.
  2. When you open the app for the first time, the sign-in screen appears. If you don’t have an account, start with “Sign Up” below.
  3. After you sign in, a prompt asks for notification permission. You must tap Allow to receive notifications sent by other people.

Sign Up and Sign In

Sign up with email

  1. Tap Don’t have an account? Sign up at the bottom of the sign-in screen.
  2. Enter your email and a password (at least 8 characters), enter the password again, and tap Get verification code.
  3. A 6-digit verification code is sent to the email address you entered. Enter the code on the Email verification screen and tap Confirm — you are signed up and signed in at the same time.
  • The verification code is valid for 10 minutes. If it expires, tap Resend code.
  • You can only resend about once every 30 seconds. If you enter a wrong code too many times, you need to request a new one.
  • If the email doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder.
  • You cannot sign up again with an email that is already registered. In that case, sign in or reset your password.

Sign in with a Google account

On the sign-in screen, tap Sign in with Google and choose the Google account you want to use. The first time you sign in, an account is created automatically and a confirmation email is sent.

Note An account created only through Google has no password at first, so you cannot sign in with email and password. To also sign in with email, set a password in your profile.

If you forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password?.
  2. Enter the email you signed up with and tap Get reset code.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and your new password (at least 8 characters) twice, then tap Change password.

Staying signed in and automatic sign-out

Once you sign in, you stay signed in even after reopening the app. However, you are signed out automatically in the following cases:

  • Your account has been deleted (by you on the web, or by an administrator)
  • An administrator has deactivated your account — deactivated accounts cannot sign in, and the message “This account has been deactivated. Please contact the administrator.” is shown.

Home Screen Overview

The home screen uses tabs at the top to separate Received and Sent messages.

Receiving Notifications

Received messages list

When a notification from someone else arrives, it appears in the device’s notification shade, and if the app is open, it is also added to the received messages list right away.

  • Unread messages are shown with a dot and bold text.
  • Each message shows the time it arrived.
  • The list is stored separately for each signed-in account. If you sign in with a different account, you only see that account’s messages.

Viewing message details

Tap a message in the list to open its detail screen; the message is then marked as read. For a message sent by another user, it is also marked Read in the sender’s sent messages list.

  • Reply — Opens the compose screen with the recipient (the sender’s email) and subject (prefixed with Re:) already filled in.
  • Delete — After confirmation, removes the message from this device.

Sending Notifications

Composing a new message

  1. Tap + New message at the bottom right of the home screen.
  2. Choose the recipient type at the top.
    • Individual — Enter one email address.
    • Multiple — Enter several email addresses separated by commas or line breaks.
    • Group — See the caution below.
  3. Enter a Subject (required) and Message, then tap Send.

Caution The current version has no feature for creating or managing groups. A group name entered in the Group tab is not delivered to any actual user, so to send to several people, list their email addresses in the Multiple tab.

Quickly choosing recent recipients

The compose screen shows up to 8 email addresses of people you recently exchanged messages with as Recent recipients chips. Tap a chip to put it straight into the recipient field (it replaces the entry in the Individual tab and is appended in the Multiple tab).

Checking sent messages and delivery status

Sent messages are recorded in the Sent tab on the home screen. Each item shows a summary such as Total 3 · Read 1 · Not registered 1; tap an item to expand the status of each recipient.

StatusMeaning
ReadThe recipient has opened the message
DeliveredThe message has arrived on the recipient’s device
SentThe notification server has accepted the message for sending (before delivery is confirmed)
FailedThe recipient is registered, but the message was not accepted for sending
Not registeredThe recipient has not signed up, or has no device registered to receive notifications
  • Tapping Remove from list in an expanded item deletes only the sent-message record on this device (the message the recipient received stays as it is).
  • The Delivered and Read indicators are updated by confirmation signals sent from the recipient’s app, so depending on the situation they may appear late or not at all.

Tap the search icon in the header to open the search screen.

  • Search terms are matched against the subject, message, and the other party’s email.
  • You can choose the scope: All / Received / Sent.
  • Tapping a received-message result opens its detail screen; tapping a sent-message result expands its body and per-recipient status.

Search covers only the messages stored on this device.

Profile and Password

Tap the avatar at the top right of the home screen to open your profile.

  • Linked services — Shows the sign-in methods linked to this account (Email/Password, Google).
  • Set / change password
    • For an account without a password (Google sign-in), enter a new password twice to set it. After that, you can also sign in with email.
    • For an account with a password, you must enter your current password to change it. If you don’t know your current password, tap Forgot your current password? Reset by email.
  • Sign out — After you sign out, this device no longer receives notifications. If you signed in with a Google account, the account picker is shown again the next time you sign in.
  • Delete account — See Deleting Your Account below.

Notification Permission Settings

You need Android notification permission to receive notifications. If you tapped Don’t allow at first, you can turn it on as follows:

  1. Go to the device’s Settings → Apps → SosomLab Notify → Notifications.
  2. Switch notifications to Allowed.
  3. Fully close the app and open it again, or sign out and sign back in. This registers the device to receive notifications.

Note While notifications are turned off, messages sent by others do not reach this device, and the sender may see Not registered. Device menu names may differ slightly by manufacturer.

Admin Features

Accounts with administrator privileges can open the Admin page by tapping the avatar on the home screen. Regular users do not see this menu.

User management

The upper part of the Admin page shows registered users as cards. Each card also shows the number of sign-ins and the most recent sign-in time.

  • Admin toggle — Grants or revokes administrator privileges for that user. The change is applied to that user’s device right away.
  • Active toggle — When turned off, the account is deactivated and cannot sign in, and it is also signed out on devices where it is already signed in.
  • Delete (trash icon) — Deletes the account and related data. That user’s devices are forcibly signed out.
  • Use the refresh button in the header or pull the list down to reload the latest state.

Test account management

In the test account area at the bottom of the Admin page, you can create shared test accounts with a random email and password.

  • + Create — Creates a new test account.
  • Regenerate password (refresh icon) — Issues a new password for the test account.
  • Copy — Copies the email and password separately, or both at once with Copy account + password.
  • Test accounts can also have the Admin and Active toggles set, so testers can check the admin features as well.
  • The password is shown on screen only right after it is created or regenerated.

Scope of administrator privileges

  • Administrators cannot change their own admin privileges or active status, or delete their own account.
  • Even if a test account is an administrator, it can manage only test accounts and cannot change regular users.
  • The fixed administrator account used to operate the service cannot be deactivated or deleted.

Deleting Your Account

Deleting your account removes your account information and device registration for notifications from the server. It cannot be recovered after deletion.

Delete in the app

  1. Tap the avatar on the home screen to open your Profile.
  2. Tap Delete account, then tap Delete in the confirmation dialog.
  3. You are signed out immediately, and that account’s messages stored on this device are also cleaned up.

Delete on the web without the app

Even if you have already removed the app, you can request deletion directly on the account deletion page linked from the SosomLab Notify listing in the Google Play Store.

  1. On the account deletion page, enter the email you signed up with and tap Get deletion confirmation code.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and tap Permanently delete account.

If you have trouble finding the deletion page, please contact us as described below.

Note If you sign up again with the same email or sign in with Google, a new account is created. Previous messages are not restored.

Frequently Asked Questions

My notifications aren’t reaching the recipient

Expand the message in the Sent tab and check its status.

  • Not registered — Ask the recipient to check that they signed up with the same email and allowed notifications in the app. A typo in the email address is also a common cause.
  • Failed — Try sending again after a moment.
  • If you sent it from the Group tab — Group sending does not currently work. Use the Multiple tab.

I got a notification, but it isn’t in my received messages list

The current version saves notifications to the list when they arrive while the app is open. Notifications that arrive while the app is closed or in the background appear in the device’s notification shade but may not remain in the app’s received messages list.

If I change phones, will my previous messages move over?

No. Messages are not stored on the server; they are saved only on the device. If you delete the app or switch to another device, previous messages do not come with you. Your account remains, so if you sign in with the same account on the new device, you will receive new messages normally.

Can I use the same account on multiple devices?

You can sign in to the same account on multiple devices, and notifications are delivered to each signed-in device. However, the received and sent message lists are stored separately on each device and are not synced.

I signed up with Google, but email sign-in doesn’t work

An account created only through Google has no password. Sign in with Google and then set a password in your profile, or create one with Forgot your password? on the sign-in screen.

Can I use it on iPhone?

The iOS version is still in preparation. When it is released, an App Store button will be added to the app page.

Changed

Known Limitations

  • Android only. The iOS version is in preparation.
  • No group sending — The compose screen has a Group tab, but there is no feature to create or manage groups, so nothing is actually delivered.
  • Messages are stored only on the device — There is no server storage or multi-device sync, so previous messages are lost when you delete the app or change devices.
  • Notifications that arrive while the app is closed or in the background may not remain in the received messages list.
  • The Delivered and Read indicators depend on confirmation signals sent by the recipient’s device, so they may appear late or be missing.
  • Recipients can only be specified by email address. There is no full user list or name search.
  • There is not yet a way to mark all received messages as read at once or to delete several messages at a time.
  • Only email and Google sign-in are supported.
